Poor Man's Pebble

By KJ Gurkha

I went golfing this past Sunday with some friends of mine Geeky and Ruthless at the Klipper Golf Course located on the Kaneohe Marine Corp Base. It's nicknamed the "Poor Man's Pebble Beach" because of the great views of the ocean on the back nine (as you will see later). There has been an on going grudge match between these two and when I got the invite, I could not pass up the opportunity to go. Smack talking was at an all time high so I brought a couple smokes and just sat back and enjoyed the show.
On the front nine, I decided to start off with a Romeo Y Julieta - Medallas de Oro 1875. It had a slight peppery taste with a strong presence of cedar as well. It lasted about six holes. Overall not a bad smoke at all.

On the back nine, I went with a Illusione 88. This bad boy had a nice leathery taste with hints of coffee and went well with my beer. Definitely my favorite between the two. Unfortunately due to the high winds on the course, the smoke only lasted about two and a half holes. Thankfully the incredible views helped soften the blow.

When all was said and done and the smack talking ended, Ruthless prevailed and came out on top again. The added twist? Ruthless brought Mrs. Ruthless who played from the same tee box as us and defeated Geeky as well. I think this might have did some permanent damage to Geeky's psyche as I heard him mumbling he may hang up his clubs. Anyways, thanks for the invite boys. It was fun.
